FlightShows, a UK-based aerial display specialist, has been commissioned to choreograph the performance. By combining cutting-edge drone technology with carefully selected musical compositions, the show seeks to engage audiences across generations.
Local composer Jean Owen has curated a soundtrack featuring classical pieces that symbolize hope and triumph, including works by Copland, Holst, and Stravinsky. This musical backdrop will complement the drone formations depicting key moments of occupation and liberation.
Community and Sponsorship
The project represents a collaborative effort, with the Education, Sport, and Culture Committee coordinating the event. Butterfield, a local sponsor, has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
Deputy Sue Aldwell emphasized the event’s significance, describing it as a “remarkable tribute” that bridges technological innovation with historical commemoration. Richard Saunders from Butterfield noted the emotional potential of combining visual and musical storytelling.
